Late 2008 saw a decrease in attendance to MAUS meetings. Is there still an interest in the group continuing? Please answer the poll question to help provide direction to Maui Apple User Society group leadership.

iTunes question

Does anyone know about moving iTunes to an external drive? I’ve researched it well and done all the steps but something went wrong. . . . I’m pointed at previous libraries and can’t seem to fix that and need help as I can’t get my list when I start up iTunes to show all my songs. I know they are there. . . . I can go to finder and locate them and play them . . . . but I’m just not pointed at the right library even though I know how to go to the Advanced tab and state the library I want. Would love help. . . .

Hello all,
I am a new member to Maui Apple Users Group and would like to be of service if I can be. I would say my skills are “average,” and I have been an Apple owner/user since the Apple IIe. I am unable to attend meetings as I have a regular Tuesday night obligation. But I would love to help beginners. And I am having a difficulty with iTunes right now. . . wondering if anyone might be willing to hear my questions and help out? I don’t want to be a “taker” though. I really love helping others. . . .

Namaste,
Linda

Has anyone downloaded Snow Leopard? Any problems? (I read some people are having connectivity problems, like with their networked printer.)

Would appreciate opinions before I go for it.

Hello all,
Have just recently started storing info online at this site.
When I go to download something from my public folder to my mac things are great.
However, when I try to download to a PC laptop with an XP os I just can’t seem to retrieve the files.
Anybody out there have any experience or advice on making this happen?
The geeks at best buy swore downloading to a PC would be no problem.
But, now they offer no support whatsoever
I’ve tried apple online tech support. Their message is always the same tho, we are too busy to add any more chats at this time.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
Thx,
Stacy

Time Capsule failed - thinking of removing drives to recover data

My Time Capsule just failed. Won’t power up at all. Reading Apple’s forums, seems like this is not uncommon for Time Capsules.

Apple says they will replace the TC, but DriveSavers wants $900-$2700 to recover the data I have stored there.

My thought is that I can buy another TC for $399, and maybe remove the hard drives from the dead TC, put them in an external enclosure and recover the data myself. Anyone had any experience with doing this? Anyone know if the hard drives in a TC are compatible with some kind of external bay?

Thank you!

Crossloop is a great FREE way to do remote desktop control.

I have used it to control a PC from a Mac and a Mac from a PC.

It is also a place where you can get help to fix your computer problems.

I use it to fix computer problems from my office on remote computers.

iPhoto 08m that according to Apple :

... improves overall stability and addresses minor issues in a number of areas, including internet connectivity, keyword import, and slideshow export.

.. but also according to a few independent blogs out there - really does improve 08 ... is available for download now
