Hello all,
Have just recently started storing info online at this site.
When I go to download something from my public folder to my mac things are great.
However, when I try to download to a PC laptop with an XP os I just can’t seem to retrieve the files.
Anybody out there have any experience or advice on making this happen?
The geeks at best buy swore downloading to a PC would be no problem.
But, now they offer no support whatsoever
I’ve tried apple online tech support. Their message is always the same tho, we are too busy to add any more chats at this time.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
Thx,
Stacy

Sorry, I don’t really have an answer for you, but just wanted to know if you like MobileMe… and if it’s worth $99 a year?

Thanks,
Evonne

I have Mobile Me and find the $99 worth having the ability to sync my iMac, Macbook Pro, and iPhone.  Haven’t started using me.com for backup yet, about to explore that and looking at the downloadable programs that would facilitate it.

Just had my Time Capsule fail - will post that on another thread - so am looking for additional redundant backups.

MobileMe sounds worthwhile for syncing between multiple Mac devices, as Isa says, and it also gives you a simple way to create a personal website to share photos, blog, etc.

A free online option which provides some sync capability and redundant backup is Dropbox, getdropbox.com. I only have one computer, so the value of Dropbox to me is offsite, redundant storage of important files (I also use TimeMachine), but it would allow you to share certain files between home and office computers, for example, even if one is Mac and one is PC. It might be tricky to set it up to emulate MobileMe’s ability to sync AddressBook and so on. You can store up to 2 GB with a free account, and there are paid options for more.

I love MobileMe for instant syncing to and from my iPhone and iMac.  Contacts, Address book, Photos and iDisk.  It’s certainly worth $99 to me.

But I have a question.  I copied all my Word and Excel files, each in its own folder, to iDisk on the Mac (they are all now available on my iPhone.)  But when I create a new file or modify an existing one, it doesn’t update the iDisk.  Do I have to drag every new file, one by one, to iDisk to bring it up to date?  Or is there some way for it to happen automatically?  One at a time is a drag, not to mention you have to research which files need to be updated and which don’t.
